Autism Education Series

Nova Scotia has enhanced autism services for preschool-aged children and their families, with more supports available across the province.

As part of this work, PPAS offers educational resources to help parents and caregivers build skills and support their child’s development. These resources are created with clinicians to ensure the information is clear, helpful, and reliable.

The Autism Education Series shares practical tips for everyday life, but it does not replace a personalized service plan.

We encourage families to work with their care team to create a plan that fits their child’s needs. We will continue to grow this series and use feedback from families to make sure it stays helpful and relevant.

A note about language

Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder, which one is it?

The terminology used has changed over the years. As we know that individuals with autism vary widely in their strengths and difficulties, the current official diagnostic term is Autism Spectrum Disorder.  In our presentations, we will be using the terms autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder interchangeably.
