Nova Scotia has enhanced autism services for preschool age children and their families, introducing additional supports across the province.

As part of this work, PPAS has created educational resources to help parents and caregivers learn new skills and support for their children. These materials were developed with clinicians to make sure the information is trustworthy and reliable. The series covers many topics and shared helpful tips for everyday life, but does not replace a service plan for your child. It's important to work with your clinician team to create a plan that fits your child and family's needs.

The Autism Education Series will continue to grow and include more resources to meet parents and caregivers on their own journeys. We will continue to listen and collect feedback from parents and caregivers to make sure that they have the information they need.

A note about language

Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder, which one is it?

The terminology used has changed over the years. As we know that individuals with autism vary widely in their strengths and difficulties, the current official diagnostic term is Autism Spectrum Disorder.  In our presentations, we will be using the terms autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder interchangeably.
