Dr. Kirstin Weerdenburg is a Pediatric Emergency Physician at IWK Health and a Consultant Pediatrician for refugee children at the Newcomer Health Clinic in Halifax. She is also an Associate Professor in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University, and the Co-Director of the Point-of-Care Ultrasound program and a Trauma Team Leader in the IWK Emergency Department.
She is actively involved in teaching point-of-care ultrasound to medical students, residents, fellows and staff physicians, not just locally, but also internationally. She is incredibly passionate about pediatric trauma and injury prevention and has learned how to utilize medical journalism as a way to advocate for these, and many other important topics on children's health.
Outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her two children and dog, as well as on the ice as a competitive figure skater.
