Anchor Youth Space Cumberland

IWK Health is excited to announce the opening of the first Anchor Youth Space location in Amherst, Nova Scotia.

Anchor Cumberland had their first open house on April 24th, 2025. This was an opportunity for youth, caregivers and partners to drop in, meet the staff and see the space for the first time. 

The Grand Opening was held on April 30th, 2025 with representatives from the Government of Nova Scotia, philanthropic partners, community partners, youth and caregivers, and other key partners.

Anchor Nova Scotia is a one-stop hub that offers young people ages 12-25 and their caregivers health and wellness resources, services and supports. Services include:

  • walk-in support - no referral needed
  • counselling, peer support, outreach and structured programming for youth and caregivers
  • help with life skills, housing, mental and addictions support and services & more
  • a safe and welcoming space to connect with peers and support
  • group programming (i.e. caregiver groups, life skills groups, yoga classes, discussion sessions, cooking classes, art classes/sessions, resume building, etc.).
