The Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology Clinic helps children and youth up to 18 years old with gynaecology-related diagnoses including menstrual disorders, abdominal pain, congenital anomalies, surgical emergencies, vulvar disorders, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and other gynaecological conditions. Self-referrals are accepted for adolescent (teenage) sexual health, including contraception.
The Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology Clinic at IWK Health is the only tertiary (specialized) gynaecology referral centre in the Maritime Provinces.
What to expect
The clinic includes an interdisciplinary team consisting of a gynaecologist, Registered Nurses (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and medical students/residents.
Be sure to bring along the following to your appointment:
- Your child's health card
- Your appointment letter
- Name of your referring physician and/or family physician
- A list of medications
- Your insurance information
- A list of questions you and/or your child may have for the physician
- Books, games, snacks, diapers, change of baby clothes, or other necessities
