Dr. Narendra Vakharia is Chief of the Department of Women's and Obstetric Anesthesia and Associate Professor at Dalhousie University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology graduating with Honors in Microbiology from Dalhousie University. He is an accomplished medical professional and educator who completed medical school and anesthesia residency training at Dalhousie University, followed by a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa. He is a Consultant Anesthesiologist at IWK Health and Nova Scotia Health Authority.
His earlier roles include Program Director for Dalhousie University Anesthesia Residency Training and Nucleus Member of the Specialty Committee in Anesthesiology for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has also been the Medical Director of Medical Simulation and the Office of Education for the Dalhousie Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management, and Perioperative Medicine.
His academic interests include simulation based medical education, crisis resource management and human factors in medicine.
Dr. Vakharia sits on the IWK Board of Directors as Chair of the IWK Medical Advisory Committee.
