Steve Ashton supports the IWK’s People Strategy and team members who are dedicated professionals in human resources, safety, learning, staff scheduling, volunteer resources and labour relations. Prior to the IWK, Steve held senior leadership roles with Bell Aliant, and was a partner with one of Canada’s leading executive search firms. He completed his Bachelor of Science (honours in Psychology) and a Masters of Business Administration from Dalhousie University, and Harvard University’s program on Leading Change and Organizational Renewal.
Steve is an active volunteer in his profession and community. He has co-chaired the national Health Human Resources Advisory Council with HealthCareCAN, and an active board member of the Nova Scotia Health Employees’ Pension Fund and Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia. He has taught human resources and is an active mentor/preceptor in Dalhousie’s MHA and MBA programs. Steve is also a passionate supporter of organizations who promote our next generation of talent, and equity and belonging in the work place.
