Counselling on Hemoglobin Trait Results
Maritime Newborn Screening reports hemoglobin traits S (sickle cell), C, D, and E. These trait results are non-urgent as they are not expected to affect health. Providers are sent an information packet along with the newborn screen result, and instructed to discuss this result with families. See the "Conditions Screened" tab for trait information sheets.
