Patients must bring their appointment confirmation number to their blood collection appointment. Confirmation numbers are sent via email when appointments are booked. If an appointment is booked by a clinic, the clinic must forward the confirmation number to the patient or use a patient email address when booking.
The IWK Blood Collection Lab provides outpatient blood collection service for children and women. Other patients should select outpatient blood collection services through a Nova Scotia Health location.
In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the IWK Blood Collection Lab will see patients by appointment only with priority for urgent and time-sensitive patient care.

Children’s Building - IWK Health Centre
Registration for Blood Collection is located at the South Street entrance near the model train station.
- Please take a number and you will be called for registration by number.
- After registration, patients will proceed to the blood collection lab.
- Patients, support people, and visitors will be screened at the entrances to the Health Centre. Patient and visitor restrictions are in effect for IWK Health.
