The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding from birth to six months of age and continued breastfeeding, with appropriate complementary foods, for up to two years or beyond. Breastfeeding can provide all of an infant's energy needs up to six months of age; no other foods or liquid are required, not even water. When your baby is around 6 months, you can discuss your baby's readiness for introducing solid foods with their community care provider.
